Marketing Lead - Offline

Sprout is an innovative food initiative that seeks to bring accessible healthy food options and healthy food education to food desserts across Ottawa. Through selling produce in corner stores already in place in communities and using the space to provide the food within walking distance of residents' homes. We work closely with Ottawa Public Health and working towards a more equitable world in terms of Canada's food security right here at home. 

The Sprout team's goals this year include:

1.     Developing a set of recipes that can be conveniently and affordably prepared using foods stocked in our participating convenience stores

2.     Building partnerships with local farmers and farmers' cooperatives, public health authorities, and nonprofit partners that work with our target clientele (i.e. the Food Bank, food pantries and soup kitchens)

3.     Launching the program in more convenience stores, potentially identifying a franchise chain that would be interested in the project

 

YOU’LL NEED TO:

●      Have excellent written and oral communication skills

●      Be creative and innovative with offline marketing techniques

●      Excellent time management and ability to work independently

●      Have great teamwork abilities

IT’D BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE:

●      Interest in nutrition

●      Interest in tracking and acting on marketing metrics

●      Experience in working with the media and the respective documents needed to be in communication with them

●      Experience in working with offline marketing techniques (events, flyers, promotions, etc)

YOU’LL BE WORKING ON THINGS LIKE:

●      Tracking marketing metrics and creating a strategy supported by metrics

●      Communicating the availability of healthy foods on behalf of participating convenience stores

●      The development of the brand

●      Developing a strong marketing strategy, including promotional campaigns such as limited-time offers and sales/coupons across various channels

●      Working closely with Sprout's graphic designer to design and implement attractive in-store signage and marketing techniques

●     Working closely with Sprout's graphic designer to design and implement various offline marketing campaigns for each Sprout location (ie flyers, posters, etc)

●      Working closely with Sprout's community relations officer to create strategies for Sprout event marketing, including tasting events and community events

Store Success

IT WOULD BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE:

●      Interest in nutrition

●      A vehicle is ideal

●      Experience in tracking inventory

●      Experience in working on Excel spreadsheets

YOU WILL BE WORKING ON THINGS LIKE:

●      Maintaining an excellent relationship between Sprout and current store partners

●      Visiting stores at least once a week to track and record inventory

●      Communicating with the rest of the team sales levels

●      Tracking and inputting the inventory levels into an Excel spreadsheet

●      Communicating with the rest of the team when new inventory needs to be produced

 

Videographer

●      Experience in filming and editing

YOU WILL BE WORKING ON THINGS LIKE:

●      Filming, editing, and posting videos to promote Sprout values and products

●      Assist in the advertisement of Sprout events through video editing

●      Organizing and directing the creation of videos

Marketing Lead - Online

●      Interest in writing and blogging

●      Experience in working with the media and the respective documents needed to be in communication with them

●      Experience in maintaining a website

YOU’LL BE WORKING ON THINGS LIKE:

●      Creating online marketing strategies based on metrics collected from A/B testing, analytics, etc.

●      Communicating the availability of healthy foods on behalf of participating convenience stores

●      The development of the brand

●      Developing a strong marketing strategy, including promotional campaigns such as limited-time offers and sales across various channels

●      Building relationships with media partners, including writing press releases and scheduling interviews with local media

●      Managing Sprout’s social media pages by advertising events and new store openings/partnerships

●      Creating content on social media pages and the Sprout website

●      Updating and maintaining the Sprout website

Community Relations

We work closely with Ottawa Public Health and working towards a more equitable world in terms of Canada's food security right here at home.

●      Writing fundraising applications and grant proposals to receive funding for the project

●      Reaching out to community organizations to grow brand awareness

●      Hosting and organizing community events

●      Building a relationship between Sprout and the community

 

 

Business Development Coordinator

●      Experience in external relations

●      A vehicle is ideal

YOU’LL BE WORKING ON THINGS LIKE:

●      Working with our current partners to strengthen opportunities for growth

●      Reaching out to store owners to expand the business

●      Expanding to new stores at an efficient and timely pace

●      Explaining contracts to new store owners and adjusting current contracts to new store owner needs

●      Represent Sprout values when encountering store owners and/or possible partner organizations

●      Being responsible for the measurement of performance of current partnerships and the communication of those results to current and potential partners.

●      Leading the research of new partnerships and seeks out new relationships with future partners

●      Creatively find new partners that the team can work with to further grow the brand

 

 

Graphic Designer

Through selling produce in corner stores already in place in communities and using the space to provide the food within walking distance of residents' homes. We work closely with Ottawa Public Health and working towards a more equitable world in terms of Canada's food security right here at home. 

The Sprout team's goals this year include:

  1. Developing a set of recipes that can be conveniently and affordably prepared using foods stocked in our participating convenience stores
  2. Building partnerships with local farmers and farmers' cooperatives, public health authorities, and nonprofit partners that work with our target clientele (i.e. the Food Bank, food pantries and soup kitchens)
  3. Launching the program in more convenient stores, potentially identifying a franchise chain that would be interested in the project

You’ll need to:

  • Understand and have an eye for good (great) design
  • Have in depth knowledge of Photoshop
  • Be a hustler (late nights will become your friend)

It'd be great if you have:

  • Experience with branding
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator
  • Marketing experience

YOU’LL BE WORKING ON THINGS LIKE:

  • Branding and promoting the Sprout stores and marketing campaigns.
  • Packaging/Banners/Posters (highly visible material)
