Program Development Lead

Sanajiit is a social enterprise that sells affordable and repurposed furniture in Iqaluit, while simultaneously acting as a recycling program for the city. It also acts as a mentorship program for Northern youth to gain valuable soft skills such as leadership and communication, and encourages them to pursue education and careers in technology and trades.

This year, the Sanajiit team's objectives include:

  • Making the business sustainable, allowing it to reach $5,000 in revenues
  • Further developing the workshop curriculum to include mental health and workplace health and safety topics
  • Making the program available to at-risk youth who are not currently in the school system
  • Expanding the program to other Northern communities

YOU'LL NEED TO:

  • Have excellent communication skills  
  •  Be organized and manage your time wisely
  • Be detail-oriented
  • Have an interest in working with youth
  • Be able to work collaboratively in a teamBe very organized and detail-oriented

IT’D BE GREAT IF YOU HAVE:

  • Experience with working in Northern communities
  • Experience with creating programs and/or activities for groups
  • A willingness to conduct your own research in order to fully understand the context of your work

YOU'LL BE WORKING ON THINGS LIKE:

  • Developing workshop curriculum (including hands-on activities) for Northern youth aged 14-18. Workshops will cover three main areas:
    o    Carpentry
    o    Business and entrepreneurship
    o    Mental health
  • Working and collaborating with program development leads on other project teams to ensure the curriculum is thorough and engaging.
  • Identifying, partnering, and communicating with external mentors to help validate the curriculum materials
